For Sale: 1969 Volvo P1800
Has 77K miles and is a california car from new that retains its original black license plates. This 4-speed manual example received consistent maintenance over the years, including a full repaint in 2013. The engine was rebuilt in 2010, and the dual SU carburetors have been replaced by a single downdraft Weber DGEV with electronic choke. A 2012 compression test showed 160psi across all cylinders, and the car is said to have covered few since.
Recently refreshed the interior and installed a new front grille with surround. Clean California title. The exterior is in good condition with no notable damage and all trim intact. The car was given a good quality repaint in its original California white at Koehler Auto Body, a well regarded shop in Berkeley, CA. The work was performed three years ago and totaled over $9K.
The Front grille and surround were recently replaced with parts sourced from Volvo Restoration Specialists VP Autoparts. The original steel wheels, beauty rings , and hub caps show some wear from use, but retail presentable. The tires are said to be in good condition.
The Interior was recently updated with new red door panels, rear side panels, and other miscellaneous trim. The seat upholstery is in good condition with no tears or split seams, and the carpets are all intact with some fading on the front floor mats. the dash area is unrestored, and some cracks are visible on the lower pad. The radio and clock are both inoperable, though all other electrical systems are in good working order.
The original dual SU carburetors has been replaced with a single Strombergs GEV and matching intake manifold. All records available showing consistent maintenance over the years, with much of the work performed at Volvo Specialist Ackerman’s in Berkeley. Notable repairs include:
-September 2009- Full clutch job with resurfaced flywheel, new clutch, cable and fork.
-May 2010- Engine rebuilt, radiator serviced, electronic ignition installed, speedo repair.
-August 2010- Replaced control arm bushings front end alignment.
-October 2010- 3k mile service with new front brake pads
-February 2012- 3k mile service with full tune up, valve adjustment, new fuel filter, and spark plugs.
*The car is sold with extensive receipts from maintenance and repairs performed over the years.
This P1800 is in good cosmetic shape with a solid maintenance history.
