1968 Volvo P1800s

Clean Florida title

Purchased July 1, 2005

Daily driver until 2019 when I decided to restore. I disassembled the Volvo and began work. A temporary medical problem stopped me for many months so I began ordering parts. In my research I was inspired by a company who built engines with a stroker crank, oversized pistons and special carburettors to basically double the horsepower without supercharger or turbocharger. My interest drove me to do months of research to find everything I needed. I was not interested in a race car. My goal was to have a beautiful P1800 with an engine that looked original except for the carburettors and would have the power and reliability for long trips with hidden air conditioning!! The engine has not been disassembled and is currently out of the car on an engine hoist and still connected to the transmission. The new parts still in the boxes are as follows:

Stroker crank

Oversized pistons

Oversized and optimized valves

Specialized camshaft for street speed and drivability

Water pump

Timing gear set

Roller rockers

High performance connector rods

ARP bolts

Bearings and bushings

Oil pump

Hardware kits

Distributor cap

Starter motor

1-wire alternator

Radiator overflow tank

Speedo cable

Brake master cylinder

Clutch master cylinder

Brake overflow tank

Brake drums – rear

Brake shoes – rear

Brake drum springs set – rear

Brake cylinders – rear

Disc brake pads – front

Disc brake rotors – front

Disc brake calipers – front

Brake light switch

Special brake tool

Intake manifold for carbs

Four carburettors (Mikuni HSR45mm polished TM45)

Cylinder head from 1969 P1800 because it accepts larger valves.

This cylinder head and new valves were sent to a well-known cylinder head racing specialist to maximize air flow on this little 4-cylinder. The engine is still untouched so the original cylinder head is still on the engine.

There are more new small parts than I have listed here but you can make them out in the pictures.

The engine stand comes with the car.

The original parts are in storage tubs. I cannot finish the restoration and need to get it out of my garage fast because I am moving and will sell it for the first cash.

  1. What condition is the body in, rust, paint etc – looks good but are there some scratches above the passenger side rear wheel and dents on the driver’s door – or is that just reflections?
Is any more welding required and if so where?
This looks like a perfect project for me if I can make the logistics work – how quick do you need it moved? Phil
