1966 Volvo P1800 – $16,500
The car is a good driver quality that can be used today for rallies and jaunts. Transmission is 4-speed with overdrive which works. A larger engine B20 was installed to give a bit of extra horsepower and does not smoke. The B20 was apparently rebuilt and cleaned up for performance but I have no documentation to support that. Mileage is unknown. The original motor is included in the sale and ran but the previous owner had stored it for a long time which resulted in the rings not reseating so the replacement was done so the car can be enjoyed. The carbs have been fully taken apart, professionally cleaned and synced. The car shows some of the inevitable bumps and scratches of long-term storage. There are a couple of paint crack areas in the cowl and on the right tail by the trunk has an area of paint lifting. There are scratches in the windshield but they don’t seem to be bothersome when driving.
The car starts and runs well and is a good platform to enjoy and make improvements as one’s schedule allows including shocks and bushings, interior and a few of the gauges (water temp and clock need hooking up or repair). The car has three-point seatbelts and the carpet and seats appear to be original so it would likely be good to refurbish or replace over time and the dash has a cap on it that is loose. With the full price, a set of brand new VTO, mini-lite style, 15” wheels come with the car.
The side spears that are iconic on the early 1800 variants are in great shape and were replaced when the paint was done by the last owner. A good solid driver you can enjoy today.
