Offered is a 1971 Volvo 1800E.
I’m a collector and I’ve owned this car for 24 years. Expertly maintained and a perennial invitee to the Concourse d’Elegance. Many extras as you can imagine having owned it since 1998. It is in excellent condition both inside and out and as you can also imagine, it runs quite well.
I’m entertaining offers over $21,000 and hope to make a decision with the high bidder by the end of the month. Check around and you’ll find some 1800s priced north of $40K
I had this car restored in California by an 1800 specialist in 1998 and shipped in a covered trailer. The engine was rebuilt and a mild cam installed. Once in Overland Park it was always serviced by Vern Rowland, the 1800 guru in the midwest if not the country. The car started out with an automatic transmission but I had it converted to a manual. NO STRUCTURAL CHANGES are required to do so on 1800s. I have the automatic tranny and all of the original parts associated with the transmission swap.
The braking system was completely replaced several years ago including calipers, lines, rotors, etc.
The chrome window surrounds are in storage as I felt the car looked sharper with the black molding around the windshield and rear window.
Also installed is a Volvo 1800 adjustable computer. This is not a chip but a Volo produced item and hard to find. A Volvo sway bar was also installed. This isn’t my first 1800E or 1800ES but this is the best running 1800 I’ve ever been in unless heavily modified for racing.
The 1966 Volvo P1800 owned by Irv Gordon is a legend in the long-distance driving club after taking his 1966 Volvo P1800 to 3.25 million miles. It is the highest mileage car in the world. Both Roger Moore (007 fame) drove one in the tv series “The Saint” and Maxwell Smart drove one in “Get Smart”.
I’m sizing down my collection anticipating an out-of-state move. Also for sale is my 1985 Mercedes 380sl.
